The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) secured highest vote from both the constituencies in Wangduephodrang followed by the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT).
PDP secured total votes of 2,977, through 2,643 EVM voting and through postal ballot it secured 334 votes. The PDP’s designated candidate is Kuenga. The DPT secured total votes of 2,306, through 2,073 EVM votes and 233 postal ballots. The DPT candidate is Gem Dorji.
In Nyisho-Sephu constituency, there are 8,978 registered voters. In Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag, there are 17,751 eligible voters.
PDP secured total votes of 2,654. The PDP’s candidate designate is Tandin Wangchuk. The DPT secured total votes of 1,962, with its 1,746 EVM votes and 216postal ballots. DPT’s designated candidate is Passang Thrinlee.
In Athang-Thedtsho constituency, there are 8,773 registered voters.
PDP’s Athang-Thedtsho candidate Tandin Wangchuk said, “We should see what happens in the general round, there is enough time to discuss and we all the designated candidate of our party should sit and discuss how we will prepare for the general round of election.”
PDP dominates DPT in Punakha
PDP secured highest vote from the two constituencies followed by DPT. Punakha Dzongkhag has two constituencies- Kabisa-Talog and Lingmukha-Toedwang.
In Kabisa-Talog constituency, there are 8,632 registered voters. PDP secured total votes of 2,663, through 2,275 EVM votes and 388 postal ballots. The PDP’s candidate designate is Dophu Drukpa.
The DPT secured total votes of 1,709, through 1,495 EVM votes and 214 postal ballots. The DPT candidate designate is Namgye Penjor.
In Lingmukha-Toedwang constituency, there are 6,084 registered voters. PDP secured total votes of 1,438, through 1,136 EVM votes and 302 postal ballots. The PDP candidate designat is Chimi Dorji
The DPT secured total votes of 1,328, through EVM it secured 1,151 and through postal ballot it secured 177. DPT’s designated candidate is Sonam Wangyel Wang.
“People of my constituency have faith in me and I feel very happy today,” said PDP candidate of Lingmukha-Toedwang constituency, Chimi Dorji.
Other designated candidates of two parties of both could not be contacted yesterday.
In Punakha Dzongkhag, there are 14,716 eligible voters.

DPT will have to change the candidates for Sephu _ Nisho and Athang if they need to win from PDP, otherwise, I see very little chance for DPT to win these two constituency in the years to come.
There are still few very potential candidates and candidates with high repute from these two constituencies which DPT can eye for before late.
It’s too late for DPT to be changing candidates, if DPT loses, so be it, but changing candidates will play right into the hands of PDP.
