After recontesting for the third time, Sonam Tenzin, 38, from Khamdang gewog in Trashiyangtse won the fourth National Council (NC) Election 2023 with 3,624 votes. He received 1,524 postal ballots (PB)votes and 2,100 from Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)
Sonam Tenzin thanked the people of Trashiyangtse and people outside the dzongkhag for trusting him and supporting him in this journey.
He said during election time, it is very important for people to know the basic concept of NA and NC and then their manifestos. So, therefore, he has also been advocating the importance of the elections and the function of NC to the public. He could build a good relationship with his people and believes that this is how he won the NC seat.
He said winning and losing are part of life and due to the hard work, he has put in to convince his people to serve them for the third time, his people trusted him and voted for him.
“Hereon, I will be serving my people and all the grave issues will be first discussed with them and then I will discuss it in the National Council. I have a big responsibility now,” said Sonam Tenzin.
He pledged to promote equal fulfilment of the need of people through policies and programmes and initiate and amend existing law in accordance with the constitution of Bhutan. He pledged to serve the people and the nation with loyalty and dedication.
Sonam Tenzin has a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from India. He has 14 years of work experience in the private sector and was a General Manager at Bhutan Industrial Gas.
