Six drangpons from six different districts are currently in the Trashigang court for a hearing on a case, which involves 10 people who have been charged with vandalizing various chortens in six dzongkhags.
The six dzongkhags are Mongar, Bumthang, Wangduephodrang, Zhemgang, Trashiyangtse, and Trashigang.
The first preliminary hearing on the case was conducted on 6th May.
Of the 10 suspects involved in the crime, one is a female.
One of the drangpons said the reason to hold the hearing in the Trashigang court is because some of the suspects have been charged with vandalizing chortens in more than two dzongkhags and, therefore, it is more convenient to hold the trial in one dzongkhag court. A request to hold the hearing in just one dzongkhag court was also submitted by the police.
The order to hold the hearing in the Trashigang court was issued by the Chief Justice of Bhutan.
