Jigme Wangchuk has pulled a hat trick as this is his third consecutive win for the seat in the National Council from Samdrupjongkhar. He secured a comfortable 4,101 votes which saw him as the winner in the NC race. He secured 2,797 EVM votes and 1,304 votes came through the Postal Ballot.
He said he ran for the NC race again because people trust in his 10-year experience as the people’s representative in NC. He said he learned many things, in terms of policy making concerning various issues of national importance.
“I will contribute and complete the important tasks left incomplete in my first and second term owing to the lack of time,” he said. Jigme Wangchuk said his last two terms as a legislator has given him the chance to interact with the relevant institutions and people from all walks of life over the years.
He also pointed out that the 10-year tenure has helped to shape his personal experience and paved the path to serve the people in a better way. “The choice is in the hands of the general public, and the opportunity they have given me to serve the nation and the people for 10 years has really opened my experience in diverse fields, I hope it will be same in this 3rd term,” he said, “I offer my profound gratitude to the people of Samdrupjongkhar for having elected me as the National Council member for three terms.”
Likewise, other nominees Kelzang Phuntsho secured 2,989 votes, Sangay Tenzin with 1,085 votes, Tshilthrim Dukar with 2,674, Tshewang Tenzin had 1,105 and Ugyen Dorji had 1,635 votes.
