Two couples in two knifing cases in Thimphu

Thimphu police are investigating two knifing cases involving two different couples, which occurred on August 27 and 28.

In the first case the wife was arrested after she knifed her husband while in the second case the husband was arrested after knifing his wife several times.

On the evening of 28 August police arrested a 27-year-old woman from Samtse who had knifed her husband, 26, from Trashigang. In her statement to police the suspect said her husband came home after mid-night drunk. When she started questioning him, he brought a knife from kitchen and provoked her to stab him.

She grabbed the knife and stabbed him on hand and then head later. He was referred to hospital discharged on the evening of 28 August.

In the second case police received a complaint on the morning of August 28 that a husband had stabbed his wife in Taba, Thimphu. The suspect, 42, from Jungshina, Thimphu is unemployed while his wife, 36, from Wangdue is a corporate employee.

The wife suffered multiple cuts all over her body and had to undergone minor OT. The incident took place after the wife came home late from an official dinner.

The suspect has been detained for further investigation.
