A 33 year old technical operator died after falling off of a mobile tower in the heart of Gelephu town. The deceased Mr. Hem Kumar Ghalley was an employee of Bhutan Telecom and had climbed over the tower to check line connections after the complaints of about 3 gewogs over poor network reception.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital but died due to several internal injuries. The deceased was found to have sustained severe internal injuries with multiple fractures since he was smashed on the ground after slipping from the height of about 20 meters.
The whole incident happened at noon on Thursday. The deceased technician is from Samtse dzongkhag working in Gelephu. He was survived by his wife and one child.
