The Bank of Bhutan Limited organized a collection drive of shoes, clothes, toys and books coinciding with the National Day on the 17th December across all the branches. This was accompanied with a high profile event in Phuentsholing to help the social cause called “Help shoe Bhutan” in collaboration with The Bhutan Dragons Motorcycle club and Shoevival.
In Phuentsholing the event was held at Zangtopelri park, starting from 10 am till 4 pm. Other branches across the country also hosted the drive by collecting clothes, toys, shoes, books etc.
The collection drive in Phuentsholing saw over 200 individuals who contributed, more than 1,000 pairs of shoes and 128 cartons full of toys, clothes and books to the cause. The items will be refurbished for distribution to the needy individuals. The items were handed over to the shoevival for refurbishment and cleaning and to the Bhutan Dragons Motorcycle club for distribution.
Mr. Pema N.Nadik Dy. CEO (Business Development) said” Bank will always be a part of any initiative that will serve the society and cultivate a sense of “giving” among the Bhutanese.
The BoB served refreshments and snacks to all the donor and volunteers. The residents and business community donated generously to the cause.
All the participants expressed their happiness on being a part of this noble social cause which underlines the bank’s commitment to the society. All the volunteers enthusiastically participated in sorting and packing the collection.
The management of BoB thanked all the volunteers for participating enthusiastically, and officials from Royal Bhutan Police who were at hand to see that the collection went smoothly. The BoB management also extended their gratitude to Zimdra foods for donating juice and snacks during the drive and Phuentsholing Thromde and Zangtopelri for allowing us to use the space.
The event ended with the Dy. CEO of the bank, Mr. Pema N. Nadik, handing over a donation of Nu.50, 000 to Shoevival for refurbishing the collected shoes. He also handed over Nu.50, 000 to Bhutan Dragons Motorcycle Club as a contribution to the charity which helps underprivileged people across the country. The club will also arrange the logistics for the distribution for the donated articles.
