The Bhutanese Leading the way.
A 24-year old avid cyclist from Bhutan will be participating in the 3rd National Downhill Championships which is scheduled on the 30 March 2013 in Nepal.
The President of Lalitpur Cycling Association, Nepal, had sent an invitation letter to all the Asian Countries to participate in the 3rd National Downhill Championships which will take place in Kathmandu at Hatiban.
Sonam Tshering who has participated in number of races and made it to the list of winners over the past years is raring to go represent the country at the event.
He has a good track record, locally as he participated in a number of races in the year 2011, where he was a winner in three races, namely the first Cross-Country Mountain Bike Race, Haa Summer Festival Race and during the second Tour of the Dragon. He was also the first Runners up in the Dantak Mountain Bike Race.
Later in 2012, he got an opportunity to train and improve his cycling skills in Colorado, USA, sponsored by the President of the Mountain States Health Product in Boulder, Colorado.
During his stay in Colorado he participated in 24 hours Moab race, Utah, in the USA and secured 11th position (Individual) out of 1,500 participants and 3rd position in overall for the team.
After rigorous training and racing, he returned to Bhutan on a short vacation. However presented with an opportunity to represent his country in the cycling championships in Nepal, he will most definitely not be taking it easy.
Sonam Tshering said, he is honored to get such an opportunity to participate in the championship and he hopes to make it in the list of top ten.
The Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) will be sponsoring the airfare and other necessary expenses for him.
