Canada to provide biometrics service in Thimphu on 15 and 16 July

The Embassy of Canada in Bhutan has announced that it will be offering a Biometrics Collection Service in Thimphu on 15 and 16 July 2024 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The facility location is Pemako hotel, Thimphu.

This service is specifically for individuals who meet certain criteria, including residing in or having legal access to Thimphu, applying for a visitor visa, study or work permit, or permanent residence, paying the necessary biometrics fee, and receiving a Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

It is important to note that applicants without a biometrics instruction letter (BIL) will not be able to submit their biometrics. Individual applicants will be required to pay CAD 85, while families applying together will have a maximum fee of CAD 170.

Once applicants apply online for their visitor visa, study or work permit and pay the biometrics fee with their application, they will receive the biometrics instruction letter within 24 hours of applying.

To schedule an appointment for the biometrics collection, people can send an email to Canadabiometricsbhutan@gmail.com.

All applicants must have an appointment, and give their surname, given name, passport number, date of birth, phone number and a copy of the BIL.

The deadline to request an appointment is Friday 12 July 2024. Applicants will receive an email within 48 hours indicating the time of their appointment.

Applicants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their biometrics appointment and to bring their valid BIL.

Applicants have 30 days to submit their biometrics from the date of receiving the BIL.

For people who are unable to attend the dates above, they can visit their nearest Canada Visa Application Centre (VAC). The applicants will need to schedule an appointment in advance for biometrics collection at Canada VACs. An authorization letter is also required to enter the country where the VAC of choice is located.
