The Gyalpoi Zimpon’s office provided semso of Nu 10,000 each to the relatives of the five deceased who lost their lives in recent car accident in Mongar. The accident took place on 6th December when the car (Santro) that they were driving veered off the road at Zimzorong, 10 km towards Gyelpozhing, Mongar.
There were five passengers travelling together and it was found that all of them were from the same family. It was also learned that, they have started their journey at around 8 AM the same and they were returning after attending a 21 day ritual of a deceased family member.
Police said that, they had received the information at around 4:30 PM the same day and reached the crime scene at around 5:30 PM. “We could retrieve the bodies of all the deceased at around 9 pm and handed over the bodies to their relatives the same night after medical examination”, police said.
The deceased includes a 83 year old woman, her 62 year old son and his 54 year old wife, their 26 year old daughter and her husband. The father was working as security guard in one of the private hotels in Thimphu (he was a retired RBG Drimpon), the daughter was working in BCCI and her husband was a nurse in JDWNRH.
The rescue team comprised of Dessups, police personals and Kurichu project staff and the teams were supervised by the Dzongda, Zimpon Wom and SP and OC of Mongar and Gyelpoizhing. The cause of accident is not known.
