His Majesty reminds new police recruits to protect and serve

His Majesty The King, accompanied by Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, graced Royal Bhutan Police’s 47th Batch Gagsars’ Attestation Parade on 15th March.

150 men and 50 women recruits who completed their training at Jigmeling and four men and two women cadet officers who trained at Tashigatshel Police Training Centre, presented Guard of Honour to His Majesty The King.

Addressing the Gagsars, His Majesty said that as they carried out their duties, they must always honour the sacred oath they took today to serve and protect the country and people without fear or hesitation.

His Majesty reminded the recruits of our National goals- to protect the security and sovereignty of our country, maintain peace and unity among the people, and enable the people to achieve economic prosperity and fulfill their aspirations by establishing good governance.

His Majesty said that as policemen and policewomen, it was their responsibility to be exemplary citizens, and while working to serve the people, they must endeavour to earn the trust and confidence of those who they serve.

His Majesty said that while codified laws exist to maintain order in society, our true objective as a nation was to maintain a civil society, where respect and harmony among the people is a natural manifestation of our cultural heritage.

His Majesty expressed appreciation for several policemen working in various parts of the country, who had shown exemplary honesty and dedication to service. His Majesty reminded the recruits  to take inspiration from these examples, and carry out their duties with the highest standards of integrity.

The recruits presented a drill and cultural programme to Their Majesties.

His Majesty later granted an Audience to the  police superintendents and other officers from across the country.

The people of neighbouring areas welcomed Their Majesties with Tshogchang offerings along the highway.
