RTC ‘Rap diss’ battery case to be forwarded to OAG as new details emerge

The Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) will forward the alleged Royal Thimphu College (RTC) battery case to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) on Monday, 5th October 2026 after completing the investigation.

According to police, the probable charge against the four suspects is aggravated battery.

Under the Penal Code of Bhutan, a defendant is guilty of battery if the defendant purposely uses physical force of an adverse nature on another person.

Battery is graded as a petty misdemeanour or  misdemeanour if aggravated circumstances are present.

A misdemeanour carries a minimum sentence of one year and a maximum of less than three years upon conviction.

The incident occurred outside the RTC campus on 14th September 2026.

According to police sources, the initial dispute arose following a rap diss between the group of one of the alleged suspects, known as Triple OG, and the victim, who is also a rapper.

Police said the initial viral rap diss was initiated by the victim and his group, ‘BOYSFROMDAHILLS’, to which the suspects’ group, Triple OG, responded with a rap diss titled ‘G-code’.

Following the two viral rap diss videos, a grudge developed between the groups.

On 14th September 2026, four individuals, including ‘Triple OG’ and his group members ‘Krayzee’, ‘N.I.M’ and ‘R’, allegedly confronted the victim, an RTC student, and members of the other rapper group, leading to an altercation.

When a security guard intervened to stop the altercation, he allegedly sustained cuts to his hand from a weapon reportedly carried by the group. The victim also sustained minor injuries to his forehead and fingers.

Police sources said the four suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The college management subsequently took the student and the security guard to hospital, where their injuries were declared non-grievous.

Upon reaching the scene, police checked nearby CCTV footage and tracked the vehicle involved.

Police were subsequently informed of the identity of one of the suspects as Triple OG.

The CCTV footage also captured two weapons allegedly in the possession of the suspects, which were subsequently sealed by police.

The South Thimphu Police Station arrested the four individuals on 15th September 2026. The suspects included Triple OG, a student from RTC, and two others.

Police identified the four suspects as aged 26, 21, 21 and 31. Police said all four suspects underwent drug tests and tested negative.

Statements were recorded from the four suspects, the victim and the security guard.

According to police, the statements of the four suspects indicated that the confrontation was not intended to become violent and that the weapon was allegedly brought to intimidate the victim.

Police said the investigation established that the main reason for the confrontation was the dispute arising from the rap diss.

As part of the investigation, police also called in the victim and two of his friends who were involved in the rap diss.

Police said drug tests were conducted on the two friends of the victim and both tested positive.

The two individuals were subsequently referred to PEMA for Substance Use Disorder treatment.

Police also seized the mobile phones of all seven individuals involved in the case, including the victim, his two friends and the four suspects. According to police, the phones were seized primarily to assist the investigation into the rap-diss-related dispute and to identify records or other clues concerning the alleged grudge between the groups.

Police said the seizure was also a preventive measure, as rap-diss videos and other information related to the incident were being publicly shared by the individuals involved.

Police later seized several weapons allegedly in the possession of the individuals as a safety measure.

The four suspects were granted bail on 1st October 2026 after the completion of the investigation. Their mobile phones, along with those of the victim and his friends, were returned.

Police said that before bail was granted, the individuals involved signed an undertaking agreeing not to hold grudges against one another.

Police confirmed that this is the first case they have encountered involving rappers getting into a fight over a rap diss.
