Seven arrested for gambling in a day

On the evening of July 23, Thimphu police apprehended seven people who were gambling in Changangkha.

Police were acting on a tip off that a group of people was gambling in a residence in Changangkha Norling building. Of the seven, two are male and the rest are women aged between 23 to 48 years.

Police seized three sets of playing cards Nu 12,910 from the gamblers. Police said the occupant of the flat was not at his residence and had gone to Changzamgtog for some personal work.

Police arrested all the people including the owner of the residence. The house owner was let out on surety while the seven of them were detained for further investigation.

Police said of the seven arrested some are businessmen and housewives.
