Bangladesh Embassy will be celebrating their victory Day on 16 December.

Although the ‘Father of the Nation’ declared Independence Day on 25 March Bangladesh celebrates 16 December as a victory day because they received complete victory and to recollect the contribution of the fighters who gave their lives for the country.

This particular date is celebrated very grandly in Bangladesh for the whole month.

In many countries Bangladesh people observe the day to celebrate complete freedom and to remember the freedom fighters.

The Ambassador of Bangladesh Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed said, “Bangladesh is a free country now because of the freedom fighters who fought the war in the year of 1971 and we are very grateful to Bhutan as Bhutan’s the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck was the one who recognized Bangladesh as a submarine country when Bangladesh was still fighting for occupational forces against the Pakistan”.

“As for now under Minister Sheikh Hasina we are in close relation with Bhutan and last few years we received the Royal King and the Ministers in our country,” he said.

“The Bangladesh’s present government has taken one new step to honor the Foreign friends who contributed their labor in the large scale in 1971 and tomorrow we are going to honor Dasho Karma Dorji, the former ambassador of Bhutan in Bangladesh because when he was studying in Darjeeling in the year 1971 he helped the people of Bangladesh,” he said.

The events for the day will be hoisting of flags, speech and a simple discussions.
