Candidates pitch competing manifestos for Phuentsholing

Phuentsholing residents are weighing two distinct futures as the Thrompon election approaches.

Candidates Deepen Ghalley and Tashi Wangchuk have released detailed manifestos.

Each candidate offers a unique roadmap for Bhutan’s primary economic hub. Voters must now choose between these strategic visions for the commercial town.

Deepen Ghalley promises inclusive and sustainable progress for the city. He will involve residents in the structure plan through regular meetings.

Trade bottlenecks will be removed to help business flow. He will review the national budget to prioritize disaster mitigation in Toorsa and Rinchending. All pending local area plans will be fast-tracked to support development.

Municipal services will move online to reduce office visits. Deepen Ghalley plans for digital water meters to track leaks and usage.

New bypass roads will connect the hospital and Pekarzing.

Sewer systems will be upgraded to meet growing needs. Fire hydrants will protect crowded transport hubs.
