Man detained for battering his uncle and brother-in-law

Pasakha police under Chukha detained a 30-year-old man for battering his 53-year-old brother-in-law and 64-year-old uncle on 2 December at around 6:15 PM at Pana (c) under Sampheling gewog, Phuentsholing.

The complainant informed police that the suspect absconded the crime scene after battering his uncle and brother-in-law. The police informed the complainant to immediately evacuate the two victims to Phuentsholing general hospital for first aid.

It is learnt that the uncle suffered head and leg injuries and was referred to JDWNRH in Thimphu on 3 December. The suspect used firewood to hit the two victims. The brother-in-law sustained with a minor injury in his hand.

Police said that a witness who is 50 years of age saw the suspect pulling his uncle’s leg at the crime scene. She sought help from a group of people to help the uncle but when the group reached the crime scene, the victim was lying in a pool of blood and the suspect had gone missing.

Police said that the suspect surrendered himself to the police on 4 December towards the afternoon. During the course of interrogation, police were told that there were no reasons behind the incident and that he was drunk. The suspect also claimed that he doesn’t remember anything.

The suspect is under detention for further investigation and the 53-year-old brother-in-law was asked to report to police station. Meanwhile, the uncle is still admitted in JDWNRH with a leg fracture.
