Being rendered handicapped with the resignation of the chairman, Tashi Yangyel Community Forests (CF) of Wangbama village under Genyen gewog is currently on the hunt for a new chairman who could manage their chunk of forests. A series of CF management groups meetings to elect the new chairman had concluded with the election of an interim chairman. It was decided that Namgay who is the serving Mangmi of the gewog will now head the CF for a period of a week. However, during one such meeting, Karma, the gup of Genyen gewog addressed the CFMGs about his reservations about shouldering dual responsibuilities. “Our Mangmi have to serve the people of the whole gewog. If we entrust him with the responsibility of CF chairmanship, one of the responsibility will be compromised. He suggested that for the interest of both the CFMGs and other general public of the gewog, it’ would be advisable to elect some other person.
