The Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) has identified a suspect in an online harassment case involving minors, with the investigation currently underway.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) shared the update in a written response to a question during the 31st Meet-the-Press session on 11th September 2026 regarding the case involving a 28-year-old man who allegedly contacted minors online.
According to the MoHA, RBP received a written complaint on 18th August 2026 concerning an alleged case of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) and online sexual offences involving multiple individuals, including minors.
As per the response, following the complaint, RBP conducted a preliminary investigation to establish whether there were sufficient grounds to register a case.
The preliminary investigation found substantial grounds for registration, following which RBP registered a case of online harassment.

“The suspect has been identified and necessary investigation processes are being carried out,” the MoHA stated in its written response.
Meanwhile, RBP is coordinating with the PEMA Secretariat to ensure the wellbeing and support of the victims and their families.
Questions were asked about measures to strengthen the protection of minors in cyberspace, preventing online grooming and exploitation and enabling children to use digital platforms safely, the MoHA said the government continues to educate children and the public on cyber and digital literacy through various mediums.
The allegations came to public attention after a TikTok user publicly shared a three-part document containing screenshots of conversations and statements said to be from alleged minor victims.
The posts had since gone viral on social media.
According to the publicly shared document, the allegations surfaced on 16th August 2026 when the author was contacted by a student who claimed that an adult man initiated online contact with two minors after seeing them at an event and started harassing them.
The document alleged that the adult continued communicating with them after being informed of their ages, commented on their appearance, and repeatedly invited them to meet in person despite their alleged refusals.
Alleged screenshots of messages were also shared in the documents.
