Two men were killed on the spot and a third suffered back injuries when the car they were travelling fell 40 meters below the road near Toribari, 4 KM from the Pasakha police station on Thursday evening in Phuentsholing.
The car was travelling to Pasakha from Phuentsholing when the mishap occurred. The deceased, both aged 28 years, had suffered multiple head injuries, skull fractures, massive bleeding, ribs fracture and various cuts on the body.
Police said that as per the statement of the third passenger also aged 28, who survived, it was learned that one of the deceased had asked the driver to stop so that he could relieve himself. The car went off road as it attempted to park.
“Most probably, the cause of the accident is drink driving and over speeding,” police said. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to relatives on the same day.
Meanwhile, on 25 May at around 12:50 hrs, the canteen of Bhutan Concast burst into flames from LPG leakage. Although the concrete house wasn’t razed to ground, all the belongings were lost to the fire.
The canteen was run by a 42-year-old Indian man and a 43-year-old helper from Jaigaon. During the time of incident, both were inside the canteen. The fire occurred when the owner was opening a filled cylinder near a lit gas stove.
The owner managed to get out unhurt but the helper sustained minor burns. Belongings of around Nu 350,000 and cash of Nu15,000 were lost to fire.
