PM inaugurates Dungsam Cement Corporation Limited

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay inaugurated the Dungsam Cement Corporation Limited (DCCL) on 22nd October 2014 at Nganglam, Pemagatshel.

Addressing the gathering, Lyonchhen said that the plant would benefit the people of Nganglam in terms of road, bridges, employment, township and so on. He reminded them that achieving self-reliance was the vision of His Majesties the Kings and the plant will contribute substantially toward the country’s economic development. He added that the wait was finally over and more than three decades later, the plant could be inaugurated today. Lyonchhen emphasized on the importance of cement in infrastructure development

and informed that in terms of production, the current plant came with the capacity to produce three times more cement than the Penden Cement Limited (PCL), thereby contributing three times more of what PCL has been contributing to the economy so far.

Lyonchhen said that recognizing the importance and the benefits the plant will have on the people of eastern dzongkhags and in particular the people of Nganglam, it was with the support of His Majesties the Kings that the inauguration of the plant had been possible today.

DCCL has provided employment to 412 people, of which only 4 are foreign workers.

Dasho Sangay Khandu, Chairman of Druk Holding and Investments and Cheda Jamtsho, Member of Parliament were amongst the guests who attended the ceremony.

On the sidelines of the event, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay met with the officials of DCCL, the local leaders, businessmen and landowners of Nganglam and held discussions on the new town plan and other issues in the Dungkhag.
