The mani dungdrub which is usually conducted from the the 25th to 30th day of the first month in the Bhutanese calendar in Tangsibji gewog, Trongsa has to be preponed this year. This is because the date for the moenlam chenmo conducted in Trongsa Dzongkhag clashed with the mani dungdrub.“So, it was conducted 10 days early”, said the gup, Jigme Namgyal. The mani dungdrub is conducted every year at the Tashiling Lhakhang, built for the people by His Holiness the 70th Je Khenpo. As an expression of gratitude for building a lhakhang for them, the villagers have conducted the ceremony collectively every year since 2006. Civil servants of the village contribute cash and the farmers contribute dairy products needed for the dung drub. After every dungdrub, the extra money from the contribution is deposited in the bank for next year’s use.“We have a separatebank account for the mani dungdrub in which we have saved around Nu 0.4 mn”, said the gup.
