His Majesty The King graced the Passing Out Parade ceremony of the Gyalsung Training 2026 Batch – Cohort 1 at Gyalsung Academy, Gyalpozhing, Mongar on 27 May 2026. From Gyalpozhing, His Majesty addressed Gyalsups across all four Academies: Pemathang, Khotokha, and Jamtsholing.
With the passing out of this cohort, which includes 44 young Bhutanese from overseas, the total number of Gyalsups now stands at 9,860, alongside over 56,000 Desuups.
His Majesty said that Gyalsung is proof that Bhutan is thinking seriously about its future and building toward it with purpose. The approach, His Majesty said, is straightforward: define clearly what you want to achieve, refine the plan with urgency and understanding, and implement with precision.“We are laying the foundations of Bhutan’s future,” His Majesty said.
His Majesty said that to make Bhutan strong, three things are needed: strong people, a living culture, and a thriving economy.
Invoking the image of a beehive, His Majesty said that Bhutan, with its Desuups, Gyalsups, and Pelsups working as one, becomes “unified, resilient, and capable of achieving whatever we set our minds to.” National service, His Majesty said, is a rite of passage, a shared experience, and a social equaliser that gives the nation common ground and a common future.
His Majesty thanked the armed forces for their service in making Gyalsung possible, and the people of Bhutan, whose full support made Gyalsung the success it is today.
His Majesty also extended deepest gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Government and people of India, whose timely and unwavering support ensured all five training centres were built despite the pandemic.
The Passing Out Parade was held simultaneously in all 4 Gyalsung Academies. Her Majesty Gyalyum Tseyring Pem Wangchuck graced the ceremony at Gyalsung Academy Khotokha. The Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, and Chief Justice Norbu Tshering attended the parades at Pemathang and Jamtsholing respectively, alongside Cabinet Ministers, Armed Forces officers, senior government officials, foreign dignitaries, and the families and friends of Gyalsups.
