Midterm reviews in Samtse and Tsirang

The Prime Minister and members of the cabinet conducted midterm reviews in Samtse and Tsirang in the past one week.

On 5th April Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, Lyonpo Ngeema Sangay Tshempo of Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Lyonpo Dawa Gyaltshen of Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs and Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel of Ministry of Information and Communications attended the MTR.

Tsirang Dzongkhag with a population of around 33,800 people covers 12 Gewogs namely Barshong, Dunglagang, Goserling, Kikhorthang, Mendrelgang, Patshaling, Rangthangling, Semjong, Sergithang,Tsholingkhar and Tsirangtoed.

The meeting saw discussions on the achievements of the Dzongkhag and individual Gewogs (targets & Indicators), major achievements with regard to capital investment, deposit works executed by the Dzongkhag, 11FYP outlay, revised budget and expenditure, issues faced so far and recommendations for the implementation of remainder activities.

Dasho Dzongdag Ngawang Pem presented the Dzongkhag’s overall MTR report: Out of a total of 55 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), 31 have been achieved, 20 are on track and 4 fall in the ‘At Risk’ category.

Tsirang Dzongkhag delivered well in enhancing rural household income and food sufficiency which saw an increased yield in chilli, ginger, vegetable, milk and eggs.

Before the MTR meeting, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay unveiled the plaque for Damphu Central School and briefly interacted with the teachers and staff in the school.

In the Samste Dzongkhag MTR on 3rd April 2016 the Samtse Dzongdag Karma Weezir presented the Dzongkhag’s mid-year assessment and Gups of Denchukha, Doongtoed, Dophuchen, Namgaychhoeling, Norboogang, Norgaygang, Pemaling, Phuentshogpelri, Samtse, Sangngagchhoeling, Tading, Tashichhoeling, Tendruk, Ugyentse and Yoeseltse presented their individual gewog reports respectively.

The production of large cardamom in Tendruk Gewog for the past three years alone was 92.5MT (2312.5 Mon). At the current market rate of Nu.55,000 per Mon (40 kgs) Tendruk Gewog’s income from cardamom was Nu.127,187,500 which is already 1.7% more than the 11th FYP outlay.

Similarly, Norgaygang Gup reported that the Gewog produced 331 MT of cardamom in the past three years.

Lyonchhen expressed his appreciation to the gups and people of the Gewogs for doing very well.
