The Rinchending blast that occurred in Phuentsholing last Friday shows that strict monitoring will go a long way avoiding such threats
On the first week of February, the municipal office submitted the design and the proposed budget for the refurbishment of the main gate to the department of law and order.
A budget of Nu 489,409 for the construction of a rally gate and other improvements like refurbishment of the entry checkpoints, are proposed.
“Earlier the gate was open with no physical barrier but with the rally gate it will be easier to monitor entry and exit,” said Tshering Phuntsho, the municipality’s chief urban planner.
However, installation of a CCTV camera is seen as the most needed equipment for the gate, which is not included in the above proposal. But Mayor Tsheten Dorji hopes that the plan he has submitted to the works and human settlement ministry for 26 cctv cameras will come through. “After this blast it is important to increase our vigil,” said the mayor.
